We have been noticing more phone calls on mobile phones to be much clearer and feature better quality than ever before. Welcome to “HD Voice”…also known as VoLTE…which is officially Voice over Long Term Evolution. It’s a funny acronym but many are benefiting from LTE for faster data speeds on the mobile platform.
Verizon and AT&T have adopted VoLTE which makes calls over the carriers LTE network or Wi-Fi rather than conventional network that are usually used for standard phone calls. T-Mobile is lagging behind a little, making VoLTE calls only to other T-Mobile customers, at least for now. They report to be working on interoperability with other carriers.
The call quality is AMAZING…sounding like a FaceTime or Skype call or as if other caller is on a microphone from a studio. If calls route properly, On Hold Messaging can sound as good as the digital source! Standard Call Waiting on wireless providers still does not seem to support Messaging On Hold, but many hosted VoIP providers have apps that make a mobile phone identical to office phone including on hold messaging.
We will be in touch with Hosted and Premise phone system providers to work together for HD Voice on landline phones. The future continues getting brighter and away from the lower quality of old copper phone line service.
Better on hold experiences will continue to expand and is arriving for more customers which can benefit from a great phone message.
